Haldane & Ross

About the practice

Haldane & Ross was set up in 2009 by two engineers who had spent their careers on the contractor side. That background still shapes how we work: reports are written to be used on site, and calculations come with the assumptions visible.

How the office is organised

Twelve people: eight engineers, two technicians, a drawing office assistant and an office manager. Every instruction is handled by one named engineer from the first call to the final certificate, which is why we keep the number of live jobs deliberately limited.

Drawings are produced in house. Where a client already has a CAD standard, we work to it; where they do not, we issue a clean set that a builder can price without a translation exercise.

Working with contractors

We are used to being asked for a quick view on site, and we give one — marked as provisional if it has not been checked against the drawings. Where our design has to change once the structure is opened up, the change is recorded and the revision issued the same week.

Records

Project records are kept for fifteen years. Clients can ask for a copy of any report or calculation they were issued, and framework clients are given a schedule of their own archive on request.
